Google Buys iRows (Google Docs Getting Kosher)

The search engine giant has recently purchased iRows, an online spreadsheet similar to Google's Docs and Spreadsheets, with the exception of iRows being better.

(PC World) A posting to the iRows blog on Tuesday announced that Israeli service iRows will shut down on Dec. 31 and that the company's founders will join Google.

Google confirmed that it has hired iRows founders Yoah Bar-David and Itai Raz and that they will work in Google's Tel Aviv and Haifa research and development centers.

iRows has posted an official announcement on not only their website, but also their weblog as well.

We are really excited about this transition. When we started iRows, we wanted to do something that would make the web a better place, provide people with better tools, something that is both useful and fun (most people may not think spreadsheets are fun, we do). [...]

Being at Google will allow us to continue doing what we love to do best but on a much larger scale. There is a lot of exciting work at Google waiting for us.

Good luck to the iRows team! I'm glad that Google bought them out before Yahoo did.
